"Good morning...Yes, it's a pleasure to meet you as well, I'm sure."
I hate the press.
"My name is Charl...es Demyan David, youngest son of the late Prince of Wales, brother to Martin Nicolai David, Prince of Wales."
Like that's not a mouthful. Sometimes I just think it would be much easier if I constantly went by Charlie So, what do they want to know this time? I don't see why I have to introduce myself every time, they know who I am. Some of them can probably count all three of my middle names and that of my father and his father, I'm not sure I can do that. Hmn? What can they ask? What I'm studying? Well, that's not a hard one, I'm nineteen and have just started my second year as a biology and physics student. I think they know that too. Or my past perhaps? Like they don't know it already. I was born in the university town of Oxford, just north of London. It was something of a mistake as I was a premature baby and my mother was at a function in Blenheim Palace when she went into labour. So, I was born in Oxford, well, at least Oxfordshire. The press hawks know this as well. How I came to London when I was six months and lived there more or less all my life. I was brought up, not surprisingly, as a Prince. I spent my life being taught etiquette, who I was allowed to converse with, who I wasn't supposed to. I'll tell you, it gets dull.
I was ten, well, almost eleven, my older brother moved to Canada. Odd. I'd had him around a lot, and sure, even royal brothers fight, but I really looked up to the guy. Still do, won't ever stop I imagine. He's my brother. Anyway, he moved and I guess the whole thing kinda fell on me. The whole 'you could be king, you have a right.' I don't know if I want that! How are you supposed to answer that question! So I never did. I never said yes and I never said no. Some say it's a diplomatic, some say it's indecisive. Right now? I don't really care. I'll think about it when the time comes. Right now I'll wave, I'll smile, I'll do my duty. I'll go to school.
I'd always liked Biology, at school, at home. I have a good stack of Biological Review sitting by my bedside. I didn't take, as many of the press crows think, because my brother took it. I took it because it was my best subject at A-Level and my favourite subject. They just jump to speculation. Right now, I'm getting on with my work, and trying to get on with my brother. I don't want a fight, there will be one, I predict, when the time (and the throne) comes, but right now, I'm not going that far. I don't care what the press vultures think. Let them think whatever they want. I'm a Biology student, thanks very much. Take that to your typewriters and paraphrase it.
"Can I have first questions please?"
HAVE I TOLD YOU PIRATE SKITTLES! FROM CAUTION MADE THIS ?!
